Jávea (Xàbia in Valenciano) is situated on the north-east tip of the Costa Blanca and a great place for families. A drive of around 90 minutes north from Alicante Airport will bring you to the sandy Blue Flag beaches of Jávea with plenty of activities in and around the town to keep everyone amused and entertained.
Here are just some of the things you and the family can be doing this month (August):
Relaxing on Arenal Beach with its shallow waters, beach volley ball, kids playground and sun loungers all surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. Also at the beach there is a first aid post, showers and toilets.
Crafting. In July & August Fiesta Crafts run a club for children aged 5 to 15. Activities include t-shirt painting, scrap booking and jewellery making. The club is available on Mondays (5.30-7.30pm), Thursdays & Saturdays (11.00am to 1.00pm). For further information visit Fiesta Crafts.
Promenading. Javea´s Promenade is about a mile and a half long and in the evening it makes for a very pleasant pre- or post- dinner stroll. The stalls that spring up in the evening selling jewellery, clothes and souvenirs add to the atmosphere.
Watersporting (OK, not a real word but it fits the pattern!). In Javea you can go: kite surfing, diving, sailing, wakeboarding, water skiing, snorkelling, fishing and more.
Cycling & Hiking. Now this will not be for everyone in the full heat of summer but if you fancy some exercise and a break from the beach you could head for the hills – well, mountain actually. The Montgó mountain rises up 753m from the plain between Dénia and Jávea and it is surrounded by the Montgó Nature Reserve. According to Wikipedia the reserve is home to more than 600 species of flora, 8 species of birds of prey and important archaeological finds such as cave paintings.
Watching & Listening. Every Tuesday and Wednesday during July and August there is a Cinema on the beach, Cine Vora La Mar with a different film each week. All films start at 10 pm at the outdoor beach cinema located on the Arenal Beach.
Well, I think you have got the picture by now. There is a lot for families to do in Jávea: your only challenge will be fitting it all in. Please check all activities and timings locally.
